We started in 2016 as Kudi.ai, a chatbot built to answer one question: why is it so hard for ordinary people to reach financial services? The answer became thousands of agents running neighbourhood banks, then payment tools for every kind of business, in store, online and by API.

Then we followed the money. The trader in Lagos isn’t running a local business. She imports from Guangzhou, pays through Dubai, sells on Instagram and saves in dollars. Her bank sees one slice of that. Nobody banks the whole trip her money makes.

So that’s the bank we’re building. One place to accept payments, hold money in the currencies you actually trade in, pay suppliers on three continents, and borrow against your track record instead of collateral you don’t have.

African commerce was never local. It just never had a bank built for the round trip.
